Diagnostic Assessments (Interviews)

Psychological problems are often complex and difficult to understand. Often, the first step in successful treatment is a thorough assessment, in which your life history, presenting problems, and co-occurring symptoms are comprehensively assessed. This assessment is especially helpful for appropriate treatment planning and coordination of care.

Through the Bette D. Harris Child and Family Clinic, experienced doctoral students in clinical psychology are available to conduct free, state-of-the art diagnostic interviews for the purpose of facilitating treatment planning and referral. Clinical assessors are closely supervised by Richard Zinbarg, PhD, and Lynne Knobloch-Fedders, PhD, both licensed clinical psychologists and staff members at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. The diagnostic assessments typically also include completion of a packet of standardized questionnaires that are often mailed out prior to the diagnostic interview and can be returned at the time of the interview.

Comprehensive in-person diagnostic interviews, which are conducted over the course of one or more two-hour sessions with a clinical assessor, are available for qualified individuals.

Free diagnostic assessments available.
