Building Stronger Family Bonds
Fall is an energizing time at The Family Institute at Northwestern University (TFI) with the excitement of our new students entering their programs. Yet with recent events, this fall also brings a sense of anxiousness within our nation and around the world. I am encouraged to see a number of national figures sharing their belief that mental health is a key component of whole health. Don’t we all believe that everyone deserves access to mental health care without enduring unfair stigmas and unnecessary barriers to treatment?
Unfortunately, millions of individuals still suffer in silence with mental health problems, life cycle transitions or distress in their relationships, which can compromise their overall health and quality of life. And we know that when one family member suffers, everyone in the family suffers.
The Family Institute was founded on the principle of family health, and that core belief still rings true in all we do today. We understand that family is comprised of people joined together by biology, intentionality or law. Through our innovative relationship-based mental health system of care, TFI is uniquely positioned to strengthen and heal the entire family. We care for the whole person and the whole family.
Today we kick off TFI’s annual Building Stronger Families Fund, our yearly fundraising campaign that benefits all areas of TFI. Last year alone, with the support of our generous donors, we helped over 8,000 clients on their path to whole health, educated 200 graduate students and advanced the Psychotherapy Change research project into its important next phase.
Please consider investing in TFI this year with a charitable gift. By treating the family, couple or individual, we can balance and rebuild relational bonds that are critical to long-term familial wellness. We can only do this with your help.
