About

Jocelyn Nelson (McDonnell), M.A., LCPC, NCC (she/her) earned her Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. With a passion for a working therapeutic alliance that helps clients feel empowered, she completed her Master of Arts in Counseling at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. In her previous role as a Behavioral Specialist, Ms. Nelson received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Using these therapies as well as other CBT informed approaches she has specialized experience treating children, adolescents, and adults with obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety disorders and eating disorders.

In her practice, Ms. Nelson specializes in the use of CBT and ERP and enjoys helping clients explore how their thoughts, behaviors and feelings are interconnected. She especially values working with OCD, anxiety disorders and eating disorders in children, adolescent and adult populations. Believing there is no “one size fits all” approach to therapy, Ms. Nelson is passionate about collaborating with clients to explore the best therapeutic approach to make lasting changes in their lives, in addition to providing a comfortable therapeutic space that will best facilitate a collaborative therapeutic alliance. She is committed to honoring the values and messages of diversity and intersectionality and making this a vital part of her practice.
