About

Dr. Gautam is a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She completed her child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is also board certified in adult psychiatry and had completed her adult psychiatry residency at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. Prior to her training in the U.S., Dr. Gautam received extensive training in psychiatry in India and was a consultant psychiatrist there. She has been in the field of psychiatry since 2006.

Dr. Gautam believes that timely interventions can change the trajectories of children's lives. She has a three pronged approach: medications + psychotherapy + holistic interventions (supplements, working on gut microbiome, breathing exercises, meditation/mindfulness) when appropriate for the child and family. She puts an emphasis on collaborating with other people involved in treatment, including other physicians, therapists, school staff and family members.

Dr. Gautam treats the following problems in children and adolescents: anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, ADHD, behavioral problems, sleep problems, school refusal, phobia, OCD, severe mood dysregulation, bipolar disorder and autism spectrum disorder. Her treatment approach is trauma-informed and she understands the role of trauma in a patient's presentation and a family’s struggle.
