Event Summary

Join Felix Morton IV, PhD, LCMHC-QS, NCC as he shares a study that examines the wellness experiences of 12 Black college men at a predominantly White institution (PWI) using a consensual qualitative research approach. It highlights their definitions of wellness amidst challenges like racial microaggressions, social isolation, and inadequate support. Findings underscore the importance of mental and physical health, social connections, and belonging. Practical recommendations focus on integrating Black men’s beliefs and meanings of wellness into educational practices to create supportive environments that foster well-being and success.

This Grand Rounds event is put on by Counseling@Northwestern's Community Engagement Committee in celebration of Black History Month.
