Growing up is not easy, particularly these days. Young people face both peer and academic pressures, shifts in the family (like divorce or relocation), the onset of hormones in adolescence and the ever-present challenge of managing their emotions. The potential issues and intense feelings run a wide gamut, and for many children and adolescents, this is the first time they have encountered and had to manage these emotions.

Know When It’s Time for Your Child to See a Therapist
Therapy can help children (and parents) understand important relationships in their lives, especially if the child has questions or wants to make changes. Our families typically reach out to us because one of them is having trouble managing their own feelings or often feeling angry, sad or anxious. No matter their age, therapy may be the best choice to help a child work toward meaningful changes.
We are here to help in any way we can, whether that means setting goals with your child or giving them the tools they need to meet their daily demands.
Teletherapy sessions are available.
What to Expect When Partnering with The Family Institute
Through our Child, Adolescent and Family Program, we’ve treated thousands of children from a wide variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, income levels and sexual identities. We also treat children with a variety of behavioral, cognitive and emotional issues across developmental stages — early childhood through emerging adulthood.
Research and a family focus inform every step of our collaborative treatment approach. Our therapy process begins with developing a customized treatment plan and goals. When necessary, we engage other programs within The Family Institute, such as Psychiatry or our Neuropsychological Assessment Program in order to provide the most complete, comprehensive care.
