Marisol Garcia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Vermont. She holds experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, with a particular background in working with those who have experienced complex trauma. Ms. Garcia works holistically by drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and internal family systems (IFS) model frameworks, adjusting her approach and treatment style to best fit the individual client. She believes that the relationship between therapist and client is foundational to the progress and safety of the therapeutic space, and utilizes empathy, compassion, and humor to work relationally with clients. Ms. Garcia utilizes a client-centered, systems-based approach to understand individual needs and backgrounds and work towards self-defined goals in session. She emphasizes the importance of autonomy in therapy by encouraging communication and creating a safe place for clients to express their needs and boundaries. Ms. Garcia is passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for clients of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, religions, and ability statuses.
