Dr. Horvitz received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Studies. Her background is working with children, teens, families and parents. She has also worked with adult clients regarding emerging adulthood stress and new parent concerns.

Mingjia Chen (she/her) is a pre-licensed professional with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University.

Chris Akel is trained in a variety of 3rd wave theories including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the Unified Protocol. Prior to his time at The Family Institute, Mr.

Dr. Juan Pablo Zapata (he/him) is a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Family Institute at Northwestern University.

Ms. Hayden works with individuals, couples and families. Her areas of interest include working through the impact of trauma in all its forms as well as grief, loss and life transitions.

Ms. Shah strives to create a safe and collaborative therapeutic environment that is client centered. She has extensive training and experience with Cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and providing trauma-informed care.
